Project at a Glance
As the lead designer, I was tasked with transforming a 20-year-old enterprise platform that thousands of businesses rely on to manage their commercial card programs. The interface was outdated, the experience fragmented, and the friction was real, especially for cardholders and admins handling daily financial tasks.
Instead of applying surface-level fixes, I led a full redesign focused on trust, usability, and scalable design foundations.
What I Did?
-
Led UX and UI for multiple core modules including the dashboard, account management, and transaction flows
-
Created a tailored design system in Figma, built on TSYS’s shared ION framework and adapted for CentreSuite
-
Partnered closely with developers, QA, and business analysts to ensure designs were consistent, feasible, and scalable
-
Facilitated usability testing with real cardholders and bank admins to validate design decisions
-
Simplified complex legacy flows like payments, bulk edits, and receipt matching into clear, intuitive experiences
Business ROI (based on usability testing so far)
-
Saw a 30% improvement in task success rate across key flows during moderated testing sessions
-
Helped reduce potential support overhead by improving self-service flows like PIN view and receipt auto-matching
-
Improved development efficiency by introducing reusable design patterns and scalable components
-
Set a strong foundation for faster, smoother design work in upcoming modules like Expense and Administration
Note: These outcomes are based on usability testing and internal reviews. The product is still in development, and full live performance metrics will follow once released.
Challenges
-
Designing within the limitations of legacy tech while pushing for a modern UX
→ I created modular design patterns that could flex around technical constraints, and worked closely with developers to ensure feasibility without sacrificing user clarity.
-
Balancing consistency across user types with the need for flexibility in branding and workflows
→ I established core visual and interaction standards through a dedicated design system, while allowing room for product-specific customizations.
-
Managing multiple user roles with different permissions and access levels
→ I mapped user journeys for each persona, identified overlaps and edge cases, and designed conditional UI states that handled role-based views without confusion.
-
Collaborating closely with the API team to ensure the new user experience was technically feasible, which also meant digging into how each API worked and understanding the backend constraints in detail
→ I held deep-dive sessions with the API team, learned the inner workings of each integration, and adjusted design flows to match what was realistically achievable.

Persona Building
I created personas to better understand the different types of users using CentreSuite like cardholders, company admins, and bank admins. It helped me design with more clarity around their goals, responsibilities, and everyday challenges.
Site Architecture
CentreSuite is structured into five core modules designed to support a wide range of financial workflows and user roles:
-
Accounts Module: View balances, transaction history, and perform account-level actions (e.g., payments, receipt uploads, card servicing).
-
Statements Module: Access statements, view posted transactions, and manage payment history.
-
Expense Module: Handle receipt uploads, transaction categorization, and policy compliance.
-
Reports Module: Create, submit, and track expense reports (with support for approval flows).
-
Administration Module (Admin Only): Configure roles, permissions, and organizational settings; manage user hierarchies and custom workflows.
Modules are permission-gated, cardholders, company admins, and bank admins see different views and actions depending on their access levels.
